Chosen

A term denoting one of the very few individuals with the uncanny capacity to grow beyond normal human limits in personal power, resilience, and the working of Will. In game terms, Chosen characters may endeavor to level-up normally, gaining spell slots, hit points, and other hallmarks of advanced characters, far surpassing their non-Chosen peers. Those not blessed with such preternatural ability merely gain in skill and to a lesser extent physical prowess, not raw resilience; as such, even the hardiest non-Chosen warrior has a cap of roughly 25 hit points.
