The Empire's legacy includes: the patrician class system, legion military structure, Latin-derived terminology (dominus, centurion), and the capital offense of literacy for the unprivileged. The Empire's dissolution created the fragmented landscape where Juramentum exists as an anomaly — a city founded on oath rather than conquest.
