The Gravedigger

A figure possessing the extraordinary ability to bring the dead back to life — true resurrection, not undead animation. In a world where death is generally permanent and the gods are distant, this power makes the Gravedigger one of the most significant beings on Terra. The nature of this power — divine, arcane, or otherwise — is theologically debated. The Gravedigger's existence fundamentally changes the stakes: if Figulus, Granny Touchgem, or fallen Myrmidons could be returned, what is the cost? And are the returned truly the same?
