Nilishli is flung from the battlements and, in her berserk rage, runs Griffin through before Weisa intervenes to save the mana bender's life. Marcus is struck down again and revives himself through the golden light. And in the aftermath's most devastating revelation, Julius Metellus's body has been stolen from the Vorn Crypt — a desecration performed under cover of battle by an agent whose identity and purpose will haunt the campaign for seasons to come. Granny Yulia Touchgem does not descend from the tower. She brought lightning from a clear sky and paid the price that the Magna Mater demands.
