Landfall. The island of Jason Tenderheart materializes through storm damage that has wounded the ship. T-34 to the Leptis negotiations. Soul paths are revealed as the island's mechanism of testing: Merick becomes the Fanatic, devoted to the Dream above all other considerations — 'specifically towards the dream and ensuring that that survives,' the player explains. Marcus becomes the Celebrant of Life, anchored to the sanctity of the living. Titus is 'incredibly stressed and somewhat regretful, but more so ambitious.' Marcus is 'grateful that everybody survived. Literally everybody survived in such a situation that many of us could have died.' Weisa journals with the fury of a warrior confronting the unknown: 'We prepared ourselves well for this expedition with many tools, hands and supply. But what are years of physical grit, blood and battle to an attack on the mind? Some of our strongest dissolved into mud as the forces did their work on them.' She prays the crew has learned something: 'The lake holds her mysteries and amplifies our own. This is not an expedition of earth and foot with familiar markers and soft dirt to rest in. This is a journey of water, where the ground does not exist.' The dome structure — which will prove to house the cathedral of Jason Tenderheart — is discovered among the island's ruins.
